Areas of practice

How we can help.

Six ways we work with clients. If you are not sure which fits your situation, the contact form has a space for that — we’ll talk it through.

01

Individual Counseling

Session length: 50-60 minutes

In-personTelehealth

Who this helps

For adults and older teens. Anxiety, depression, grief, life changes, identity. Anything that has gotten heavy to carry by yourself.

What to expect

Weekly or biweekly one-on-one sessions in our Long Island office or via secure video anywhere in New York. We sit with what is, then make a plan you can actually live with.

02

Couples Counseling

Session length: 75 minutes

In-personTelehealth

Who this helps

Couples in any stage. Dating. Engaged. Newly married. Decades in. Separating. When communication stops working, when trust needs rebuilding, or when you have a big decision to make together.

What to expect

Both partners present. Structured conversations with a third person in the room who is not on either side. We slow things down so you can hear each other.

03

Family Counseling

Session length: 60 minutes

In-personTelehealth

Who this helps

Parents and kids who keep ending up in the same fight. Blended families finding their footing. Teens who won’t talk at home but might talk to a stranger in this room. Loss, illness, big moves.

What to expect

Sessions usually include parents plus the child or teen, sometimes siblings too. We focus on practical changes you can try this week.

04

Group Counseling

Session length: 90 minutes

In-personTelehealth

Who this helps

Adults and teens who do better hearing other people work through things that look like their own. Lower cost than individual sessions. A different kind of support.

What to expect

Small groups of 4-8 people meeting weekly with a clinician facilitator. Confidentiality is a shared agreement, not a guarantee.

05

EMDR Therapy

Session length: 60-75 minutes

In-personTelehealth

Who this helps

People living with the aftermath of trauma — a specific event, recurring patterns, things that happened long ago and still affect you now. Anxiety and panic that hasn't responded to talk therapy alone.

What to expect

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) uses bilateral stimulation while you hold a memory in mind. It is structured, evidence-based, and our Clinical Director is trained in the protocol.

06

IEP / 504 Coordination

Session length: Varies

In-personTelehealth

Who this helps

Parents navigating school services for a child with anxiety, depression, learning differences, or trauma history. Families who need someone to translate between school staff and the clinical picture.

What to expect

We attend meetings with you (in-person or remote), write supporting letters for the school, and help you understand what to ask for. This is coordination work alongside therapy, not a replacement for it.

Common questions

First-time-therapy questions, answered.

How much does therapy cost at Happy Pro?

$100 per 50-minute individual session out of pocket. With insurance, typical out-of-pocket cost is $0 to $40 per session depending on your plan. We verify your benefits in writing before your first appointment, so there are no surprise bills.

Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, and Northwell Direct. If your plan is not listed, you may still have out-of-network benefits we can help you use. Send us your info and we will check for free.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Same-week openings most weeks. Call by Tuesday and you usually see someone by Friday. We will be honest if a particular clinician is booked further out.

Do you offer telehealth or in-person sessions?

Both. We see clients in person at our Long Island office or by secure video anywhere in New York State. Many clients mix the two depending on their week.

What kinds of issues do you work with?

Anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, couples and family work, teen and young adult issues, grief, and school coordination including IEP and 504 meetings. Our Clinical Director is EMDR-trained for trauma. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you.

Do I need a referral or diagnosis to start?

No. You do not need a referral, diagnosis, or insurance approval to start. Most insurance plans cover outpatient therapy without a referral. Reach out and we will walk you through the rest.

How long is a session?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Couples sessions are 75 minutes. Family and EMDR sessions run 60 to 75 minutes depending on the work.

What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?

That is a normal place to start. Send a note or call, and we will talk through what you are dealing with before scheduling anything. There is no pressure to commit to a course of therapy on the first call.

Can I switch therapists if it's not the right fit?

Yes, and we mean it. Fit matters more than credentials. Tell us, and we will move you to another clinician on the team or help you find someone outside the practice if needed.

How do I get started?

Call or text 631-371-2718, send a note through the contact form, or check your insurance through the verify-insurance page. We respond every business day.

Not sure which service fits?

The free 15-minute consult is exactly for this. We'll listen, ask a few questions, and tell you honestly whether we're a good fit.
