Most teens who land in our office in Patchogue do not arrive describing anxiety or depression. They arrive looking shut down, irritable, or under-sleeping. Treatable, almost every time, when the parents are willing to be in the loop without running the room.
Patchogue Village has a tight school community in the South Country and Patchogue-Medford districts. We see a lot of teens whose families value privacy and who are not eager to put their kid on a clinical track. The work moves best when the teen has their own space in session and the parents have their own check-ins separately.
How teen therapy works here
For teens we lean on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) adapted for adolescents, motivational work that respects autonomy, and parent coaching on the side. For trauma we use EMDR with adolescents and their families. Most teens stabilize inside ten to fifteen sessions; the parent coaching often continues a bit longer.
What it costs
Most Patchogue families use one parent's commercial PPO plan or a school-district plan. We are in network with the major plans and verify your specific benefits in writing before your first session. With most in-network plans (Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Northwell Direct), the typical out of pocket cost is between $0 and $40 per session, depending on your specific plan. Coverage may vary; we check your specific benefits in writing before your first session at no cost. Send your insurance information here.
If we are not in network with your plan, you may still have out of network benefits that reimburse a portion. The payment options page walks through the Mentaya tool to check that quickly. Self-pay rates are listed there too.
Same-week openings, most weeks
We hold intake capacity so most weeks we can get you in within days, not months. Sessions are in person at our Long Island office or by secure video anywhere in New York State.
