Anxiety is the most common mental health concern in adults, and most of what walks through our door is steady, low-grade, hard to sleep, picking-fights-over-small-things kind. Treatable, almost every time.
The Town of Brookhaven is the largest town in Suffolk County by area and the most varied in feel. The Coram, Yaphank, and Selden side near the William Floyd Parkway, the Mount Sinai and Shoreham communities to the north shore, the Brookhaven National Lab area, and the long stretch of LIRR commuters using the Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson lines. The anxiety pattern we see most often in Brookhaven is the kind that comes from juggling long commutes, multiple kids in different school districts, and aging parents in nearby hamlets.
How anxiety therapy works here
Most outpatient anxiety therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure work, or acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). All three are evidence-based, and most people see meaningful change inside eight to sixteen sessions. Our Clinical Director is also EMDR-trained, which is useful for panic and phobia work with an identifiable trigger.
What it costs
Brookhaven households use a wide range of insurance: commercial PPOs through Long Island and NYC employers, public-sector and union plans (police, firefighters, teachers, trades), and a substantial share of National Lab and research-related coverage. We are in network with the major plans and verify your specific benefits in writing before your first session. With most in-network plans (Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Northwell Direct), the typical out of pocket cost is between $0 and $40 per session, depending on your specific plan. Coverage may vary; we check your specific benefits in writing before your first session at no cost. Send your insurance information here.
If we are not in network with your plan, you may still have out of network benefits that reimburse a portion. The payment options page walks through the Mentaya tool to check that quickly. Self-pay rates are listed there too.
Same-week openings, most weeks
We hold intake capacity so most weeks we can get you in within days, not months. Sessions are in person at our Long Island office or by secure video anywhere in New York State.
