Anxiety is the most common mental health concern in adults, and the version that ends up in our office most often is not the dramatic kind. It is steady, low-grade, hard-to-sleep, picking-fights-over-small-things kind. Treatable, every time.
Southampton sits at the western edge of the East End: a Village of about 4,000 year-round residents that swells in the summer, a mix of working families along the Tuckahoe and North Sea roads and a more affluent population closer to the ocean. Most of the people we see in Southampton are not the summer crowd. How anxiety therapy works here
Most outpatient anxiety therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure work, or acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). All three are evidence-based and most people see meaningful change inside eight to sixteen sessions. Our Clinical Director is also EMDR-trained, which is useful for panic and phobia work with an identifiable trigger.
What it costs
Practically: most insurance plans common to Southampton residents are commercial PPOs through Long Island employers (school district plans, the hospital, county government, trades unions). We are in network with most of the big names; we verify before your first session. With most in-network plans (Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Northwell Direct), the typical out-of-pocket cost is between $0 and $40 per session, depending on your specific plan.
