Therapy serving Hampton Bays — short drive, same-week intake

Hampton Bays residents looking for outpatient therapy run into the same barrier most East End residents do: local practices are full, and the next opening is six weeks out.

Happy Pro Counseling is based 15 minutes east in Southampton, and we hold weekly intake slots specifically for new patients across the East End — including Hampton Bays, East Quogue, Westhampton, and Flanders. When you call us, you’re usually in for a first session within 2-7 days.

If you’d rather not drive, all our services are also available by telehealth across New York State — so most of our Hampton Bays patients do a mix, in-person when convenient, video sessions when not.

What we treat

We work with kids, teens, and adults across the full range of common concerns:

  • Anxiety (generalized, social, panic, phobias)
  • Depression and mood concerns
  • Trauma and PTSD — EMDR-trained clinicians
  • Grief and loss
  • Couples and relationship work
  • ADHD support
  • School anxiety and refusal in kids and teens
  • Behavioral concerns in younger children
  • Burnout and stress
  • Life-transition support

For active eating disorders, severe psychiatric conditions requiring inpatient care, or children under 5, we’ll refer you to specialists.

Insurance we accept

In-network with:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Oxford
  • Northwell Direct

Most patients with one of these plans pay a $20-$40 copay per session. We verify your specific benefits before your first session.

Don’t see your plan? Call us anyway. We’ll often have a workaround — out-of-network reimbursement, a different clinician, or sliding scale.

How we’re different on the East End

A few things that matter on the East End specifically:

Same-week intake. Most local practices are at capacity. Ours is structured around new patient flow, not waitlists.

Year-round availability. Some East End therapists scale back in winter. We’re full-staffed all 12 months.

Telehealth flexibility. Hampton Bays winters can be rough. Our telehealth-by-default option means weather doesn’t disrupt your therapy.

EMDR + trauma specialty. Trauma processing is one of our strongest areas — particularly EMDR, which has the most evidence for PTSD and anxiety with identifiable origin events.

School coordination. Our school social worker can coordinate with Hampton Bays School District and surrounding districts on IEPs, 504s, and school-anxiety cases.

Telehealth across New York State

Live in Hampton Bays but commute to the city? Spend summers here and winters elsewhere in NY? Our New York State licensure lets us see you anywhere in the state via telehealth, in-person at our Southampton office whenever you’re around.

Switching between in-person and telehealth from one session to the next is fine — most patients prefer the flexibility.

Call us today and we can usually get you in within the week. We’re in-network with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, and Northwell Direct.

If you’re in crisis, call 988 or visit your nearest ER. We’re outpatient and a great next step after stabilization.

Hampton Bays FAQ

Q: How far is your office from Hampton Bays? A: Roughly 15 minutes east on Sunrise Highway / Montauk Highway, depending on traffic. Free parking on-site.

Q: Can I do most or all sessions by telehealth? A: Yes. Many of our Hampton Bays patients do telehealth as their default and come in person occasionally.

Q: Do you accept Empire BCBS or Healthfirst? A: Empire varies by clinician — call us with your plan name and we’ll verify. Healthfirst (Medicaid) is not currently accepted; community mental health centers in Suffolk are usually the better path for Healthfirst.

Q: What about evening or Saturday appointments? A: We have evening availability several days per week, and a limited number of Saturday slots. Call to check current openings.

Q: My teenager refuses to do therapy. What do I do? A: First — that’s normal and doesn’t mean therapy is off the table. Call us. We can usually offer a 15-minute parent consultation to talk through next steps and the right approach.
