Therapy in Westhampton, NY — Same-Week Appointments, Major Insurance Accepted

By Happy Pro, Counseling Team · April 21, 2026 · 3 min read

Therapy serving Westhampton, Westhampton Beach, and Quogue

Westhampton’s population swings dramatically by season. So does the local availability of mental health care: fewer practices in winter, longer waits in summer, and an ongoing capacity crunch year-round.

Happy Pro Counseling is based in Southampton — about 25 minutes east of Westhampton — and offers same-week intake appointments for new patients. For most Westhampton residents, telehealth across New York State is the most practical default, with optional in-person sessions at our Southampton office when convenient.

What we treat

We work with adults, teens, and kids across:

  • Anxiety, panic, and phobias
  • Depression and mood concerns
  • Trauma and PTSD (EMDR-trained clinicians)
  • Grief and loss — including sudden loss
  • Couples and relationship therapy
  • ADHD support and coaching
  • School anxiety, school refusal, and behavioral concerns in kids
  • Family conflict
  • Life transitions, retirement, identity work
  • Burnout and chronic stress

We refer out for active eating disorders, severe psychiatric conditions requiring inpatient care, and children under 5.

Insurance we accept

In-network with:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Oxford
  • Northwell Direct

Typical out-of-pocket per session for our in-network plans is a $20-$40 copay. We verify benefits before your first session.

Other plans, including out-of-network reimbursement options, are often workable — call to discuss.

Why we work for Westhampton patients specifically

Westhampton has a lot of seasonal residents and weekend commuters. Our model accommodates both:

New York State telehealth licensure. If you spend weekdays in the city and weekends in Westhampton, we can see you wherever you are within New York State. No need to switch therapists by location.

Same-week intake. Most Hamptons therapists quote 6+ weeks. Ours don’t.

Both in-person and telehealth. Most Westhampton patients do mostly telehealth with occasional in-person — fine clinically, fine logistically.

Year-round consistency. No seasonal staffing changes. Same clinician all year.

Our specialties

A few areas where we have particular depth:

  • EMDR for trauma, anxiety, and grief. Several clinicians are EMDRIA-trained. Strong evidence base for PTSD and single-event trauma.
  • Pediatric and adolescent care. Child-specialist clinicians, not generalists. Plus a school social worker on staff for IEP/504 coordination.
  • Couples therapy. Several clinicians trained in evidence-based couples modalities (Gottman, EFT).
  • Adult ADHD and executive function support. Practical coaching alongside therapy.

Westhampton FAQ

Q: I split time between NYC and Westhampton — can you still treat me? A: Yes. As long as you’re physically located in New York State during the session, our New York-licensed clinicians can see you via telehealth.

Q: How far is your Southampton office from Westhampton Beach? A: About 25-30 minutes east on Montauk Highway, depending on season.

Q: Do you treat seasonal affective disorder? A: Yes. Several of our clinicians work specifically with seasonal mood patterns — often combining therapy with light therapy guidance.

Q: What about family therapy with adult children? A: Yes. We do family therapy across age ranges. Sessions can be in-person, telehealth, or hybrid.

Q: I had a bad therapy experience years ago and I’m hesitant. How do you handle that? A: First sessions often address that directly — what didn’t work last time, what might be different, and explicit permission to push back if anything in our work feels off-track. A bad past experience often makes patients better at recognizing fit.
